How to configure Windows XP for a Westernet.net dialup ------------------------------------------------------------- 1: Click the Start button and select Control Panel. 2: A window called Control Panel will open. Select Network and Internet Connections from the window. 3: A list of tasks will appear. Select Set Up or Change Your Internet Connection. 4: This will open a window called Internet Properties with the Connections tab activated. Click on the button that says Setup. 5: This starts the New Connection Wizard. Click the Next button. 6: Make sure Connect to the Internet is selected, then click on the Next button. 7: Click on Set up my connection manually then click the Next button. 8: Make sure Connect using a dialup modem is selected, then click on the Next button. 9: For ISP name, type in westernet.net and click Next. 10: For Phone number, type in the dialup access number 375-1258, then click Next. If you have set your area code,then you meed to use the area code. 11: When you signed up, you chose your username and password. In the Username field, type your username PLUS "@westernet.net" and in the Password and Confirm Password fields, type your password. Then click Next. 12: Make sure the check box Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop is checked and then click Finish. 13: That's it. You should now have an icon on your desktop that says westernet.net. To connect, double-click on it. 14: This brings up the Connect To westernet.net window. Click on the button that says Dial to connect to the Internet. Congratulations! Assuming you typed in your username@westernet.net, password and phone number correctly, you should now be connected to the Internet.
